Your Roller Ticket: A Practical Path to the Job Site
Picture this: You’re on a bustling construction site, the sun baking down on your high-vis vest, as you skillfully manoeuvre a CAT CS56B roller over freshly laid gravel. It’s your job to compact the surface until it’s as solid as a rock. The site supervisor gives you a thumbs-up, and the foreman radios in, “We’re ready for the asphalt.” Feels pretty good, right? That’s the kind of real-world scenario you’ll be stepping into once you’ve got your roller ticket in hand.
Our roller course isn’t just about ticking boxes—it’s about getting you job-ready. We’ve trained everyone from absolute beginners to experienced labourers looking to upskill. Let’s break down exactly what you’ll get out of this course.
Let Affordable Industry Training help. We have years of experience in helping construction and public works professionals get their roller ticket and we can help you too.

What’s the Course Like?

This course consists of a theory component and a practical training component. The theory component will include watching safety and instructional clips, as well as industry PowerPoint presentations. Once you have completed the theory, you’ll be given a training plan which includes all the RIIMPO317F elements and tasks for you to practice.
For the practical training, our training site, it’s the real deal. You’ll be out on uneven terrain, tackling everything from clay to compacted road base. Trust us, no two days are ever the same. is fully work-simulated and designed to resemble the modern worksite as much as possible, which ensures that you learn the necessary skills in the best possible environment. Once you’ve completed the training, you will move on to the assessments (theory and practical) once these are successfully completed you will be deemed competent in all areas.
Real Challenges, Real Solutions
Students often ask, “What’s the toughest part of operating a roller?” Honestly, it’s all about surface consistency. One of our trainees, Sarah, had a tough time figuring out how to handle soft spots on a road construction project. With some coaching, she learned to adjust her rolling patterns and nailed it by the end of the course. Now she’s earning top dollar working on mine site haul roads.
Another common struggle? Understanding vibration settings. Too much vibration, and you risk damaging the subbase. Too little, and you won’t get the compaction density you need. We’ll teach you how to strike the perfect balance.
What You’ll Walk Away With
By the end of this course, you’ll earn a Statement of Attainment for RIIMPO317F – Conduct Roller Operations. But more importantly, you’ll leave with the confidence to walk onto any job site and get straight to work. Our graduates have gone on to work on projects like the Cross River Rail and the Sunshine Coast Airport Expansion.
